This week I worked on a new and final project in my Advanced Visual Media course. We were to design a logo/brand for ourself. First I sketched at least 30 different sketches and then brought my favorites into Illustrator to create them as vectors. I then refined the vectors some more until I finally came up with what I wanted. I was really excited for this new assignment as I have been wanting to rebrand myself. I have decided to change to my full name so I am better recognized with my work. I am excited for this change. In fact, soon I will be changing my website to nicolenugent.com, but no worries, it will redirect you if you go to this website.
For this new logo, I decided to use the double “N” to my advantage. I created a brandmark with the “N” within a circle. I also created “Nicole Nugent Creative” as part of the entire logo. I used Photoshop and Illustrator for creating the logo and business cards.
I thought that this logo represents me as it is colorful, elegant, but modern and professional. I chose the colors because I felt that they are nice complementary colors and noticeable. I tried to make them gender-neutral even though they may be leaning more on the feminine side.
The main problems that I ran into was deciding fonts and design layout for my business card. I was having such a hard time choosing because I wanted it to be just right. After asking lots of opinions and giving myself some breaks and then coming back to it, I finally decided on something that I feel good about.
Here are the sketches and vectors that I did in this project:
