For my Professional Imaging class, our first project was to design a movie poster as an introduction to ourselves. I had been thinking about this for some time and I had just watched “Fame” this summer with my family and knew this is what I should do. I watched the 2010 version, but there was an older movie and television show that this movie was based on. My name actually came from the TV show that my parents used to watch.
Growing up, I have always loved the arts – whether it was visual or performing. I had a dream to become an actress on Disney Channel and to be famous. As I started improving my talents, I realized that I loved dance, music, and photography. They became my staple hobbies and I loved the joy they would bring me so I started to pursue those. I still enjoyed acting, but it wasn’t my main focus anymore.
I still wanted to be famous, but not in the actual meaning that most people associate with it. I want to be famous by who I am and what I do. That when they hear my name, they know what I stood for and what I loved to do. From this movie, there is a quote that sums up exactly how I feel in regards to my life and what I do:
“There’s some things success is not. It’s not fame, it’s not money or power. Success is waking up in the morning so excited about what you have to do that you literally fly out the door. It’s getting to work with people you love. Success is connecting with the world and making people feel. It’s finding a way to bind together people who have nothing in common but a dream. It’s falling asleep at night knowing you did the best job you could. Success is joy and freedom and friendship… and success is love.”
So essentially, I just want to be successful. And that will give me the fame I personally desire.
Here are the original pictures that I used to combine into the movie poster. I used a tripod for the self-portraits. The bokeh lights was taken in Vegas with my Canon 60D and the rest of the images were taken with my iPhone 5.
