For my Advanced Visual Media college course, our assignment was to create an infographic on a topic that we like. An infographic is a visual poster that displays research in a professionally designed and pleasing way. I chose to do my topic on snow because I honestly love snow. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. Everything is so quiet and I love the fun that can come from it. I wanted to interview people asking what their favorite childhood snow activity was so I surveyed different people. I also found various information on the internet regarding snow.
For this project, I was to have a background, at least 3 graphics, and a chart/graph that I created. So I created all the graphics for this infographic including the background, text, snowflake, snow globe, graph, sled, snowballs, snowman, snow angel, and the map of the United States. I did tracing, followed tutorials, and did some free-hand. I haven’t made vectors like this before in Illustrator but I really wanted to challenge myself. I am happy with how they turned out.
The problems that I ran into for this project was actually my original topic. I was going to do something on tornadoes, but was having a hard time finding the information. I also was not into it that much because let’s face it – tornadoes are not the happiest thing. So I decided to switch it to snow because it makes me much happier.
The programs that I used for this was all in Illustrator. It was so great because I was immersed in Illustrator and learned a bunch of new tricks.
